Kali Shorts
A grass roots programme that seeks out Asian women who want to write for the first time. From a wider ranging callout for scripts, each chosen writer receives support and advice from an experienced writer and the opportunity to see their work workshopped and then presented by professional actors to an invited audience who are encouraged to give constructive feedback.
“The support I got was fantastic and the advice so useful… I plan to carry on writing.”
Kali Futures
Kali Futures aims to support and encourage the development of Asian women writers discovered through Kali Shorts with a programme of 1-1 dramaturgical advice and workshops with professional actors and a director, culminating in a Public Reading at Soho Theatre and Writers Centre. Futures graduates have received commissions from the BBC, Channel 4, other theatre companies and been taken on by agents. Our 2005 full productions, Bells by Yasmin Whittaker Khan and Chaos by Azma Dar, were plays developed through Kali Futures.
“The whole experience was great… filled me with so much confidence in my work.”
