Kalisthenics

A new 6-month artist development residency for established South Asian women theatre-makers, offering space to experiment, take risks and deepen artistic practice.

KALISTHENICS is for artists with a developed body of work who want to push beyond the familiar. Whether your practice is rooted in sound, light, design, film, direction or spatial storytelling, this programme supports work that originates not in a script, but in the theatrical worlds that surround it.

Over the six-month time frame, selected artists will receive a proposal-based commission to develop their discipline, with a focus on experimentation and creative exploration. The programme culminates in a five-day R&D residency and a public work-in-progress sharing.

What's on offer:

  • A project-based commission of £2,500 or £5,000 (depending on proposal)

  • Specialist mentorship from a leading practitioner in your field

  • Artistic support from Kali's Artistic Director

  • A five-day R&D residency with access to space, technical support and collaborators

  • A public work-in-progress sharing for an invited industry audience

Open to established South Asian women theatre-makers based anywhere in the UK.
