Reimagining theatre, building a future: Join the board of Kali Theatre
Under new artistic direction, we are redefining not just what stories we tell, but how they are told, and who gets to shape the form itself.
For us, theatre is not simply words on a page. It is a living, breathing experience, a space where thought, meaning, and feeling converge. This shift is about restoring agency to artists, creating conditions for stronger, bolder writing to emerge, and offering audiences work that feels formally exciting and alive to the cultural moment.
To realise this vision over the next five to ten years, we are seeking new trustees who share our conviction in the power of theatre to transform lives and who are ready to help us build a sustainable, nationally networked future.
The Role
As a Trustee, you will act as an ambassador, advocate, and champion for Kali Theatre. You will work alongside fellow trustees to ensure the charity's effective governance and long-term sustainability, while playing a proactive role in supporting our ambitious growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Fundraising and Ambassadorial: Proactively support our fundraising ambitions by acting as an advocate for Kali Theatre within your networks.
Governance and Strategy: Contribute to the charity's future strategic direction, including the rollout of our new "Kali Hubs" national network and the launch of our Friends of Kali patron scheme. Uphold the principles of good governance and ensure the financial health and resilience of the organisation.

Who We're Looking For
To strengthen our Board and support this ambitious new chapter, we are looking for Trustees with expertise in at least one of the following areas:
Individual Giving & Philanthropy: Experience in cultivating and closing gifts from high-net-worth individuals and major donors.
Grants & Trusts: A strong network and understanding of grant-making trusts and foundations.
Corporate Sponsorship: Experience in developing and securing corporate partnerships and sponsorship.
Above all, we are seeking individuals who are passionate about putting artists at the heart of everything we do and who are excited by the prospect of helping to shape a more experimental, multidisciplinary future for theatre.
Time Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend up to six Board meetings a year, with an initial term of three years. The role is voluntary and is not accompanied by financial remuneration.
